Code 0613 from the nearby note is a red herring, and opening the cabin grants the Hacker achievement plus a maximum-health bonus.

Find the Outskirts train

Progress far enough through the current Chapter 1 exploration area to reach the Outskirts train. Establish a safe oxygen path and identify the train silhouette before circling it for the door. Store important quest materials because the keypad search is optional.

Approach the train slowly and inspect its red exterior side door. The keypad is labeled CAB DOOR, which distinguishes it from ordinary panels and repair points. If no interaction appears, move the reticle across the keypad rather than the door frame.

Enter code 0861

Interact with the CAB DOOR keypad and input 0-8-6-1 in that order. Confirm the entry and wait for the lock or door response. There is no known lockout for a failed attempt in the verified build, so an earlier wrong code does not ruin the achievement.

The correct code solves the puzzle directly; no hacking tool or later character upgrade is required. If the interface rejects it, confirm you are at the Outskirts train's red cabin door rather than another keypad. Also check that your build has not changed the puzzle in a later patch.

Where the code clue appears

Move toward the nose or front exterior of the train and examine the painted markings. The digits 0861 appear near the CITY OF LABOR VALOR wording. This environmental clue is the intended solution and explains why the code belongs to the vehicle.

You do not need to collect the number as an inventory note before using it. Seeing the clue is useful for solving the puzzle naturally, but the keypad accepts the digits directly. Screenshots can make the position look different depending on how the train is oriented in view.

Ignore the 0613 red herring

A nearby note can suggest 0613, but that number does not open the CAB DOOR in the current build. It is part of the joke and puzzle misdirection. Repeatedly using it will not reveal a second step.

Return to the train's painted nose if you want to verify the real clue in game. The solution is not obtained by reversing 0613 or combining both numbers. Simply enter 0861.

Achievement reward and cabin loot

Opening the door unlocks the Hacker achievement and grants a bonus to maximum health. This functional reward makes the puzzle useful before riskier exploration. Confirm the trait or reward display after the door opens.

The cabin also contains useful supplies such as tape, Plastic, nutrients, and water, plus a Brewcopter collectible in the verified build. Loot can change during Early Access, so the achievement and health reward are the reliable reasons to complete the puzzle. Leave enough inventory space before opening the room.

Troubleshoot the Hacker achievement

If the code works but Steam does not immediately unlock the achievement, wait for the door sequence to complete and check the in-game reward state. Ensure Steam is online and avoid repeatedly loading during the animation. Preserve a save from before the interaction if platform synchronization appears delayed.

If the keypad cannot be used, verify the objective area and inspect the exact CAB DOOR panel. Some panels on the train are decorative or serve another system. A clear keypad interaction is required for the code entry screen.

This solution was checked on September 1, 2026 in the initial Early Access period, when public gameplay references identified the current build as 0.8.2. The demo reportedly used the name Lockpicker for a related unlock, while the released Early Access achievement is Hacker. Use the name displayed by the current Steam list.

Puzzle locations, loot, and bonuses can change in development. The live code clue and keypad response take priority if a later patch differs. This page will only change the solution after a playable build confirms it.

After the door opens, wait for the achievement notification and confirm the maximum-health reward in the character state. Collect the cabin items only after the unlock has registered, then return by the route you established on arrival. If anything fails, record the game build and retry from a save before the keypad rather than repeating the entire exploration route.

Make the Outskirts trip worthwhile

Combine the keypad attempt with a route survey, but do not combine it with a full inventory of irreplaceable quest parts. On the outbound leg, identify one oxygen-safe intermediate landmark and photograph or memorize the train from that angle. On the return leg, note any panels or pipe sources that can support a later dedicated gathering run.

The health reward has more long-term value than the cabin's common supplies, so prioritize registering the unlock over maximizing loot. If oxygen becomes unsafe after the door opens, leave low-value items and return immediately. You can revisit a known cabin more easily than recover progress lost during an overextended trip.
